Donald Eames Pinther, 93, of Pike Lake, went to be with our Lord on March 19, 2018. Don was born May 25, 1924 in Duluth to George and Jennie (Crosby) Pinther. Don graduated from Duluth Central High School and served in the US Army during World War II. He graduated from UMD with a degree in Education and also lettered in Tennis. Don was united in marriage to Frances Arimond on June 6, 1953.
Don started working for H G Heinz at the age of 15. Following college, Don began his career at First American Bank, Norwest Bank and retired from Wells Fargo where he was a Vice President and Mortgage Loan Officer.
Don attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, was a past board member of the AAA Pike Lake Auto Club, and a former member of the Duluth Lion’s Club. Don was a member of the Woodland Community Club where he was instrumental in building the tennis courts. Playing tennis was one of his passions in life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert, a sister, Elizabeth Engblom, and, in 2017, his wife, Frances.
He is survived by daughter, Cathy Bagne (Thomas) of Minneapolis; son, Gregory (Tracy) Pinther of Superior; daughter, Paulette (Gary) Mattson of Bloomington; son, Mark (Laurie) Pinther of Duluth; grandchildren, Jens Pinther, Allison Pinther, Sarah Mattson, Amanda Mattson, Elena Bagne, Hannah Pinther, and many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday April 6, 2018 with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service in Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home, 3208 W. 3rd Street Duluth and continues from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday April 7, 2018 in Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1505 Eklund Ave. Pastor Phil Terrill officiating. Burial in Canosia Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Union Gospel Mission, 219 ½ East First St.
